Description
The Master of Notarial Law Study Program (M.Kn.) of the Faculty of Law, Universitas Batam, is a postgraduate programme dedicated to the advancement of knowledge and professional excellence in the field of notarial law. The programme reflects Universitas Batam's commitment to producing graduates who possess strong academic competence, professional expertise, and ethical integrity in the practice of the notarial profession and other legal professions related to legal services and the administration of justice.
The programme provides comprehensive knowledge of Civil Law, Business Law, Land Law, Inheritance Law, Contract Law, and other legal disciplines related to the preparation of authentic deeds and notarial services. Through a curriculum that is responsive to legal developments and societal needs, students develop the ability to analyse legal issues, formulate appropriate legal solutions based on established legal principles, and produce high-quality legal instruments that ensure legal certainty.
The learning process integrates theoretical instruction, legal analysis, case studies, research, and professional notarial practice. Supported by academically qualified lecturers and experienced legal and notarial practitioners, the programme fosters an academic environment that is conducive to learning, innovative in approach, and committed to the advancement of legal scholarship and professional competence.
In line with the implementation of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education, the programme encourages students and academic staff to actively engage in research and Community Service activities that contribute to the advancement of legal scholarship and the enhancement of public legal awareness. Academic conferences, seminars, workshops, and collaborative partnerships with government institutions, professional organisations, and other relevant institutions further strengthen students' competencies and broaden their academic perspectives.
Graduates of the Master of Notarial Law Study Program are prepared to become professional and ethical notaries who uphold the highest standards of professional conduct and are capable of adapting to the evolving legal landscape and the needs of society. Graduates are also qualified to pursue careers as Land Deed Officials (PPAT), academics, legal consultants, mediators, researchers, and legal practitioners who contribute to promoting legal certainty, justice, and public benefit at both the national and international levels.
Guided by the principles of excellence, professionalism, and global competitiveness, the Master of Notarial Law Study Program remains committed to becoming a centre of excellence in notarial education and scholarship by producing highly qualified graduates who make meaningful contributions to the development of law and Indonesian society.

Objective
To promote learning that emphasises the development of practical competencies, including the preparation of authentic legal deeds, the application of legal knowledge to contemporary issues, and active participation in both formal and informal academic activities.
To strengthen research-based and applied learning in accordance with the Study Program's Operational Plan, supported by continuous enhancement of academic staff quality and the provision of adequate educational facilities and infrastructure.
To equip graduates with the knowledge, professional skills, character, and ethical values required for further academic study and active participation in society.
To actively design and implement Community Service programmes through legal guidance, public legal education, and community outreach, with the active involvement of students in every activity.

Graduate Profile
Notary: A public official authorized to draft authentic deeds covering all acts, agreements, and decisions required by law or requested by interested parties. Prospects include opening one's own office or partnering with associates.
Land Deed Official (PPAT): A public official granted special authority to draft authentic deeds for specific legal acts related to land rights or ownership rights over condominium units (Hak Milik Atas Satuan Rumah Susun). This profession is generally carried out concurrently (dual office) with the Notary profession within the same jurisdiction.
Supporting Professions in Corporate and Banking Sectors – Legal Officer / Corporate Secretary:
Private companies, particularly in the property, mining, and banking sectors, require expertise in civil law and notarial practice for drafting business contracts, mergers & acquisitions, and legal audits.
In-House Notary / Legal Counsel: Serving as an internal consultant managing the legality and licensing affairs of large-scale companies.
Academic or Researcher/Lecturer
Becoming a lecturer at a Faculty of Law (particularly in the Law or Master of Notarial Law study program) by pursuing further education to the Doctoral (S3) level.
Legal Researcher: Working at research institutions or government legislative bodies.
