Established in 2005, the Midwifery Study Program initially comprised the Diploma III (D3) in Midwifery and the Applied Bachelor (D4) in Midwifery programmes. In 2021, it was transformed into the Bachelor of Midwifery Study Program and the Midwife Professional Program, reflecting its commitment to strengthening professional midwifery education. In recognition of its educational quality, the programme received Excellent Accreditation from the Indonesian Accreditation Agency for Higher Education in Health (LAM-PTKes) in 2024, pursuant to Decree No. 0021/LAM-PTKes/Akr/Pro/I/2024.

The programme has produced highly competent midwives who serve across a broad spectrum of healthcare settings throughout Indonesia. Its graduates are employed as civil servant midwives in public hospitals and Community Health Centres (Puskesmas), independent midwifery practitioners, hospital and primary healthcare clinic midwives, as well as healthcare professionals within the Indonesian National Police (POLRI) and the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI). Graduates have also established careers in homecare services, health communication and advocacy, and have successfully pursued professional opportunities overseas, including in Saudi Arabia, Germany, Singapore, and Malaysia.

To ensure graduates acquire comprehensive professional competencies, students undertake clinical and practical training at the Integrated Laboratory of Universitas Batam, RS Hj. Bunda Halimah, the University's teaching hospital, independent midwifery practices, and Community Health Centres (Puskesmas). The programme is delivered by professionally certified academic staff, experienced midwifery practitioners, and lecturers who have graduated from distinguished national and international universities, thereby ensuring that graduates are well prepared to meet the evolving demands of the healthcare profession.

1. To deliver midwifery education through an Outcome-Based Curriculum (OBC) employing a Student-Centred Learning (SCL) approach, in accordance with the National Standards for Midwifery Education, with a distinctive focus on complementary midwifery care.

2. To provide high-quality Midwife Professional Education in order to produce graduates who excel in complementary midwifery care, possess up-to-date knowledge of advances in science and technology, and are able to compete nationally in the field of occupational health services.

3. To conduct high-quality research and Community Service, particularly in the field of complementary midwifery care within occupational health services.

4. To develop collaborative partnerships aimed at improving community health, particularly maternal and child health, by strengthening healthcare services through the implementation of complementary midwifery care within occupational health services.

5. To produce graduates of the Midwife Professional Program who are competent to practise as professional midwives in healthcare services.

1. To provide high-quality Midwife Professional Education in order to produce graduates who excel in complementary midwifery care, possess up-to-date knowledge of advances in science and technology, and are able to compete at the national level.

4. To produce graduates of the Midwife Professional Program who are competent to practise as independent midwifery practitioners.

1. Independent Midwifery Practice (TPMB)

   Opening an independent midwifery practice in accordance with applicable licensing regulations. Providing antenatal care, normal delivery, postpartum care, neonatal care, and family planning services.

2. Private and Government Hospitals

   Working in delivery rooms, postpartum wards, perinatology units, midwifery outpatient clinics, and other health units.

3. Community Health Centers (Puskesmas)

   Providing maternal and child health (KIA) services, family planning programs, immunization, and public health education.

4. Health Clinics and Primary Care Services

   Working in general clinics, maternal and child clinics, or maternity clinics.

5. Government Institutions

   Serving as a healthcare worker under the supervision of health offices, ministries, or public health programs.

6. Midwifery Educator or Lecturer

   After pursuing further education, midwives can build careers as teaching staff at midwifery education institutions.

7. Health Researcher

   Engaging in research related to maternal, infant, reproductive, and public health.

8. Lactation and Reproductive Health Consultant

   Providing education and guidance related to breastfeeding, reproductive health, and family planning.
