Community Service Program (PKM) in Bulang Kebam Island

The Sadhanamerta Pharmacy Student Association (HIMAFAR) conducted a Community Service Program (Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat/PKM) on Saturday, May 30, 2026, in Bulang Kebam Island, Bulang Lintang Subdistrict, Bulang District, Batam City.

The program focused on improving health literacy and providing basic pharmaceutical services to coastal communities. Through education on the DAGUSIBU principles—(Obtain, Use, Store, and Dispose of medicines properly)—and free health screenings, the activity aimed to empower residents to manage household medicines appropriately and promote early disease prevention.

In addition, the program featured education and the cultivation of Family Medicinal Plants (TOGA). Through interactive educational sessions, residents learned about various medicinal plants commonly found in the local environment, the parts of the plants that can be utilized, and simple, hygienic, and safe methods of preparation for basic family health needs. The educational session was followed by a collaborative TOGA planting activity in the residential area, serving as a concrete step toward promoting community self-reliance in maintaining family health through the utilization of home gardens.

The activity was attended by the Vice Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences, the Head of the Pharmacy Study Program, the Head of the Nursing Study Program, the Head of the Psychology Study Program, and lecturers from the Pharmacy Study Program. Representatives from the local government and law enforcement agencies also participated, including the Head of Bulang Lintang Subdistrict and staff, the Babinsa of Bulang Lintang, and the Bhabinkamtibmas of Bulang Lintang.

The Community Service Program is an annual initiative of HIMAFAR, conducted twice during each organizational term, in both the odd and even semesters. The Bulang Kebam Island Community Service Program was carried out as part of HIMAFAR's work program for the even semester.
