UNIVERSITAS BATAM HOLDS PHYSICIAN'S OATH CEREMONY FOR THE 45TH BATCH
Batam, May 5, 2026 – Universitas Batam held its Physician's Oath ceremony for graduates of the 45th Batch (Angkatan XLV) of the Medical Study Program on Tuesday (5/5/2026), at Rumengan Hall, Universitas Batam. The event marked a sacred moment signifying the graduates' entry into service as professional medical practitioners ready to contribute to community health services.
The event was attended by members of Universitas Batam's leadership, including Vice Rector I, Prof. Dr. Ir. H. Chablullah Wibisono, M.M.; Vice Rector III, Dr. Mohammad Gita Indrawan, S.T., M.M.; Secretary of Griya Husada Foundation, Faris Ramadhan, S.Ak., M.Ak.; Secretary of LPPM, Raymond, S.E., M.Sc.; Head of LPM (Institute for Quality Assurance), Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nurhatisyah, S.T., S.ST., M.Kom; Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, dr. Fachrul Jamal, Sp.An., KIC; Dean of the Faculty of Law, Prof. Dr. H. M. In his remarks, Vice Rector I, Prof. Dr. Ir. H. Chablullah Wibisono, M.M., stated that the physician's oath is not merely a ceremony, but an important moment carrying moral and professional responsibility. Graduates are expected to possess deep empathy and the ability to integrate scientific approaches with humanistic values in medical practice.
Meanwhile, the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, dr. Fachrul Jamal, Sp.An., KIC, affirmed that a physician must possess not only scientific competence, but also integrity, wisdom, and social sensitivity. In carrying out their profession, doctors must adhere to standard operating procedures (SOPs), uphold professional ethics, and continuously develop themselves in line with advances in science and technology. He further emphasized that patients play an essential role in a physician's ongoing learning and service. Therefore, every medical action must be grounded in good intention, professionalism, and humanistic values.
A graduate representative, speaking on behalf of the class, expressed gratitude and appreciation to parents, lecturers, and all parties who supported them throughout their education. They acknowledged that the journey had not been easy, but had shaped strong character, integrity, and empathy. This moment also marks the beginning of a great responsibility to serve the community.
Through this ceremony, the graduates officially assume the profession of physician and stand ready to fulfill their duty of providing health services to the community. Universitas Batam hopes its graduates will become outstanding, professional, and competitive medical practitioners capable of making a real contribution to the advancement of public health.
